This is a house we just purchased. Basement is not close to flooding, but there is some ground water seeping up through cracks in the floor during very heavy rains. Dampness on some edges/flourescence on some walls, which can probably be addressed with proper gutters/improved grading outside. Current sump pump is old and inadequate. Previous owner put in a new sump pit at opposite end, but never installed pump there.

We are looking at purchasing a home in the area that has 4 steel, concrete filled posts supporting the main header in the basement. These are the original posts - home was built in 1972. The bottoms of the posts are in the concrete, presumably against the groun and the contact with dirt / moisture has rusted them. The steel casing on the posts are fairly rusted, so we wanted to look at replacing all 4. Could you provide a rough estimate of this type of work and once we have closed on the home, we can do a site visit if necessary?
